Tips for a successful job interview

Find out as much as you can about the company you intent to work for. Try to document yourself about everything and a thing the job you are competing for can include, the products pr services the company offers. Knowing these things will make you feel more confident when you will be asked specific questions about the company.

Make sure you are carrying with you a copy of your CV, written in a professional manner, including all details that could be of interest for that specific company.

Look your interlocutor in the eyes, because this thing shows that you have confidence in yourself and that you are focusing on the subject. Show some enthusiasm towards the firm you are trying to work for.

Dress up as professional as possible. If the company style claims the wear of a suit, the wear that suit and look as presentable as possible because that is most important and it will make just the difference you need.

Try to answer the questions, in not more than 60 seconds. That doesn’t mean that you have to answer with simple yes and no, but long answers will make the interlocutor lose his interest. And you might also lose you concentration.

Listen carefully and answer to questions directly. If you did not understand a question, ask them to explain it better to you, do not answer unless you are sure what you have been asked.

Prepare to tell them what your past activities have been and the way you consider they can influence your carrier. Give some examples that ca end up leaving a good impression of you.

Ask questions. The questions you will ask show that you are proactive and that you want to make sure this place is indeed the right work place for you.

Send a “Thank You” note at no more than 2 days after the interview. Express your interest towards the job you are interested in and thank them for their time. Even if you end up not being interested in the job anymore, you can never know if that person can’t become a great contact person for you.

How to stay close to family and have your career too

Well, often when running after two rabbits we’ll end up loosing both of them. But no, that saying is not always true and it does not apply here. Usually people find it confusing when they realize that in order to have a family they have to give up their career dreams, or in some cases even their jobs. Actually it’s all about priorities and self control.

If ever confronted with this problem, and no other advice works, try following these stages and maybe you will find the answers you need.

1. Decide if you are ready to have a family.

This is very important. You must take in consideration all aspects, family life means: children, spending time together, support.

If you don’t feel ready and still take this step, your family will end up neglected for sure and you shouldn’t try to follow the next steps unless you are ready.

2. Assuming you have a job, make a work plan and try to share work problems at home.

You might find it unbelievable, but your family can help with your work. They love you and even though they are not specialists in your work area, they will do their best to give the best possible advice.

3. To have a career you have to work harder. Try getting some work home.

When waiting that promotion, you will have lots of unplanned work to do. If you stay and finish it all at the office, your family will barely see you. Try and take home with you what can be taken and at least they will be happy knowing you are next to them, even if you are busy.

4. Keeping a warm atmosphere at home will ease your job.

Do not fight with your family when you come home stressed from work and also do not keep work problems secret from your family. If when you get up in the morning you will be encouraged and leave home contentedly, your job will be a lot easier.

5. When getting a promotion, discuss it at home.

Even if it means more work, your family will understand if they are asked first. They don’t want to get in the way of your career and desires, they just want to see you and talk to you every day if possible. But they will let you go work as much as you need and where you need to if you make taking the better job their decision.

Are you wasting or investing your time?

Time is the most precious value we have. Time is the greatest equalizer of human beings. If we don’t ant to admit his and to treat time with respect then we will only have to lose. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, healthy or sick, you will only have 24 hours a day either way, and you should try to use them wisely.

Most of the times, we waste our time and energy worrying and thinking about things like how to win more money and how to leave a better life. Well, when we do this we usually forget about the most important think – the time to live our life in. A wise man will always tell you: “You can always make more money, but you can never buy more time”.

How many times are we aware of the ways we invest our time? And the word “investment” is the most accurate because the way we choose to spend our time is a true investment in ourselves and our own lives. And you will never find the true value of time in the way people around you act and talk.

People usually spend time for hours in front of the TV, or they spent a lot of time browsing the net with no purpose whatsoever. Some of us even try to steal more time with the cost of many healthy sleep hours. If you wake up earlier in the morning just to smoke a few cigarettes and to fill your self up with coffee so you won’t feel sleepy it doesn’t mean you won quality time. Also, inefficient work or spending more hours at work that you have to is equal to borrowing your life to someone else.

Everyone always says things like: “I’m just counting the hours to go home” or “I wish it were Friday” on a Monday and so on. These are just signs that those persons usually waste their time. If you organize our time efficiently and if you choose to do only activities that motivate us somehow, then we will find ourselves able to work everyday without feeling tired or sleepy.

At any moment that you just let time pass by you think about what Romans said:”Carpe Diem” – it has a great meaning for our everyday life, it means “Live the day” or better said “Organize your day”. Make more time to analyze the way you invest or waste your time. And never forget that you can’t tell anything about tomorrow so “Carpe Diem!”.
